Deny update permissions to the tables, and have the application do its updates via Stored Procedures. Check the section on SPL in the "Guide to SQL: Tutorial" - it's one of the things SPL was designed to allow you to do. Going through a stored procedure bypasses the table-level restriction. Could be a bit tedious modifying the Fourgen code though. Alternatively, use a product like Informix-Viewpoint which was specifically designed for end user querying. It would almost certainly be easier to set up and quicker to execute than going through ODBC. akent@cix.compulink.co.uk (Andy Kent) -------------------------------------
