I am trying to setup java on IDS 11.50.FC3X8 installed on Linux. When I try to install foo.jar I get the -9431 error. Everything I have been able to google says to look at the install notes; the install notes say to make sure the onconfig params are the same as onconfig.std. They are. Can anybody point me in the correct direction? results from uname -a: Linux psdb05sat 2.6.16.60-0.31-smp #1 SMP Tue Oct 7 16:16:29 UTC 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Here's the online log: 08:53:41 Booting Language <java> from module <$INFORMIXDIR/extend/krakatoa/lmjava.so> 08:53:41 Loading Module <$INFORMIXDIR/extend/krakatoa/lmjava.so> 08:53:41 The C Language Module </IDS/IDS115FC3/extend/krakatoa/lmjava.so> loaded 08:53:41 Loading Module <informix.jvp.dbapplet.impl.JarHandler> 08:53:41 Got the mutex 08:53:41 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/informix/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin/j9vm 08:53:41 Cannot load lib /home/informix/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin/j9vm/libjvm.so: error : libjsig.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Thanks
from the online log posting, it appears that you have an incorrect LD_LIBRARY_PATH the lmjava.so loads up fine when the path is /IDS/IDS115FC3 /extend/krakatoa Where as for libjvm.so it appears to be looking in the path /home/informix/extend/krakatoa Good luck. -Manoj "BEVIS KENNEDY" <bkennedy@utah.gov> Sent by: ids-bounces@iiug.org 03/09/2009 04:30 PM Please respond to ids@iiug.org To ids@iiug.org cc Subject -9431 Can't find system class or method or libra [15069] I am trying to setup java on IDS 11.50.FC3X8 installed on Linux. Thanks for your response but java is still not working and I'm still looking
for help.
/home/informix is a link to /IDS/IDS115FC3; it's much easier for me to
remember when I'm navigating.
I'm not sure if it matters but I probably should have mentioned that I'm
trying this on a secondary SDS server.
In my IDS 10 install there is a /usr/lib/informix/jrel.4 link to the krakatoa
jre. That link is missing from my 11.5 install. I found install instructions
in the machine notes and followed them exactly and now I have a brand new
error when I execute the install jar command. This time I had to bounce the
engine:

This is what I got from the machine notes:
3. JRE Shared Libraries
In order to ensure the JRE shared libraries are loaded properly, the
following steps are necessary:
a. Add the following lines at the end of /etc/ld.so.conf
<$INFORMIXDIR>/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin
<$INFORMIXDIR>/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin/classic
<$INFORMIXDIR>/extend/krakatoa/jre/lib
This assumes the bundled JRE in $INFORMIXDIR/extend/krakatoa/jre
is used. Substitute <$INFORMIXDIR> by the value of your
INFORMIXDIR environment variable.
c. Run ldconfig as root
# ldconfig
oops, wrong machine notes file. 4. JRE Shared Libraries In order to ensure the JRE shared libraries are loaded properly, the following steps are necessary: a. Add the following lines at the end of /etc/ld.so.conf <$INFORMIXDIR>/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin <$INFORMIXDIR>/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin/j9vm This assumes the bundled JRE in $INFORMIXDIR/extend/krakatoa/jre is used. Substitute <$INFORMIXDIR> by the value of your INFORMIXDIR environment variable. b. Run ldconfig as root # ldconfig Now I get a different error: 08:00:09 Got the mutex 08:00:09 JVMLOG: jvm_log file is /home/informix/extend/krakatoa/JVM_31854 08:00:09 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/informix/extend/krakatoa/jre/bin/j9vm 08:00:09 VM args[0]= -Xss512k 08:00:09 VM args[1]= -Djava.security.policy=/home/informix/extend/krakatoa/JVM_security 08:00:09 VM args[2]= -Xms32m 08:00:09 VM args[3]= -Xmx16m 08:00:09 VM args[4]= -verbose:gc 08:00:09 VM args[5]= vfprintf 08:00:09 VM args[6]= exit 08:00:09 VM args[7]= abort 08:00:09 VM args[8]= Xmx32m 08:00:09 VM args[9]= -Djava.class.path=/home/informix/extend/krakatoa/krakatoa.jar:/home/informix/ext end/krakatoa/jdbc.jar:/home/informix/extend/krakatoa/ifxlang.jar:/home/informix/ extend/krakatoa 08:00:09 Failed to create VM, error code -4 I've tried this WITH IDS10.00.FC8 on HP-UX and now IDS11.50.X8 on Linux. Is anyone out there using java udr's?
