Hi Listers,
I would appreciate some advice on resolving this error when running a "make"
for sqlcmd on Solaris 2.7:
INFORMIXC="cc"sql -DESQLC_VERSION=914 -I. -I/sfw/informix/incl/esql -O -DHA
VE_CONFIG_H -g -c updblob.ec
esqlc: "updblob.ec", line 121: Error -33051: Syntax error on identifier or
symbo
l 'dbase'.
esqlc: "updblob.ec", line 199: Error -33040: Object 'dbase' was not
declared.
2 error(s) found
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `updblob.o'
bbankmain{informix}/sfw/informix/dba/sqlcmd/sqlcmd-59>
TIA,

Step 1 - also report the problem to me.

Step 2 - consider upgrading from CSDK 2.01 to perhaps 2.40, 2.50 or even
2.60.

I installed CSDK 2.01.UC1 (ESQL/C 9.14 -- I already had the product
file) on my machine (Solaris 7), and I get the same errors. I don't get
the problem with CSDK 2.10 or CSDK 2.40. There are a few other funnies
in the early versions of CSDK which I ran into with DBD::Informix, which
is another reason for making the upgrade.
Since CSDK 2.01.UC1 is obsolete and you can download CSDK from
http://www.informix.com/evaluate free of charge, that is what I
recommend that you do.
Incidentally, I'm planning to send SQLCMD 61 to the IIUG very soon;
however, the changes are not all that significant compared with SQLCMD
59, being related almost exlcusively to a problem with some versions of
Yacc and Bison. Version 60 was an experimental version not released
publicly that helped resolve the issues.
