Re: Replies concerning FAQs, archives etc.

I have often wondered what might be the best way to "advertise" the existence of the FTP archive at mathcs.emory.edu. Currently, I do a monthly posting to the newsgroup/mailing list, but that's about it. I would like to be able to respond to everyone who requests information or examples that I think might be in the archive, but unfortunately I don't have the time. In fact, I usually *don't* reply just to insure that I don't slip from being simply the archive maintainer to become a reference librarian. If anyone can think of a better way to get the word out without overburdening the newsgroup, I'd appreciate hearing from you. I know some people have learned of the archive through tools like archie and WWW. Perhaps the problem will go away by itself as the use of these tools increases. In the meantime, let me know if you have any ideas.
