Hello Claus.
Today I tried two methods to get the structur of my db. I run dbexport
"database".
This exports most all tables but ist has problems with views. It stops
on writing the definition of a view.
I stopped here the dbexport and recreate the view. The error comes on
a second run.
Now I use this:
$ dbschema -p all -t all -d ntb3 /tmp/ntb3.sql
DBSCHEMA Schema Utility INFORMIX-SQL Version 7.30.UC8
Copyright (C) Informix Software, Inc., 1984-1998
Again the machine hangs on the creation of a view (Its another one)
Here is sceernshot:
# tail
ntb3.sql
,x0.gueltig_ab_2 ,x0.verlaengert_von_2 ,x0.verlaengert_bis_2
,x0.verlaengert_ab_2 ,x0.ausn_kind ,x0.ausn_schuel ,x0.ausn_jug
,x0.fachgebiet_a ,x0.verein_1a ,x0.gueltig_von_1a ,x0.gueltig_bis_1a
,x0.gueltig_ab_1a ,x0.verlaengert_von_1a ,x0.verlaengert_bis_1a
,x0.verlaengert_ab_1a ,x0.fachgebiet_b ,x0.verein_1b ,x0.gueltig_von_1b
,x0.gueltig_bis_1b ,x0.gueltig_ab_1b ,x0.verlaengert_von_1b
,x0.verlaengert_bis_1b ,x0.verlaengert_ab_1b ,x0.fachgebiet_c
,x0.verein_1c ,x0.gueltig_von_1c ,x0.gueltig_bis_1c ,x0.gueltig_ab_1c
,x0.verlaengert_von_1c ,x0.verlaengert_bis_1c ,x0.verlaengert_ab_1c
,x0.fachgebiet_d ,x0.verein_1d ,x0.gueltig_von_1d ,x0.gueltig_bis_1d
,x0.gueltig_ab_1d ,x0.verla#
There is no change after several minutes. These views contains a large
number of rows (256 rows, that was not my idea...)
Do you have any other ideas?
Best regards.

Have you tried myschema? Download my utils2_ak package and make it.
Myschema is a plug in replacement for dbschema except for the -hd option and
a small number of the newest 10 & 11 features with many additional features.

Hello Art.
Nice to see you. I hope your're well.
I will try your program. But next week I'am not in my office, so this
task have to wait some days more.
Have a nice weekend :)
