how to tune buffer allocated to index data?

Hi all, I noticed that the buffer allocated to the index data was extremely high in my database (version 7.31.UC2). May I know which parameter (in onconfig) manage this buffer and how to tune it? Percentages: Data 12.16 Btree 86.52 Other 1.32 TIA, Miyaki __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! The profile you have (Data 12%, Index 86%) could point to the need to increase BUFFERS. Index pages tend to stick around in memory because they are usually used more often than data, especially in OLTP systems where data is almost always accessed through an index (sometime 2 or 3 key-only index joins before picking up a data page). With limited BUFFERS, the often-accessed index pages will, rightly, dominate the buffer pages. Actually, the fact that 12% of your data is in memory is a good sign (I've seen buffer-starved systems where data was under 1%), possibly suggesting that any additional memory you allocate to BUFFERS will mostly get used by data pages. If you have the memory, increase BUFFERS by 20%, to start with. If you don't have memory, steal some, if possible, from your virtual segment.
