Hi, Can a server name, which runs Informix OnLine, be composed of "-"? In one configuration, our server name was xx-yy. The I-Net/I-Star did not operate correctly. But when I renamed it to xxyy (removing the "-"), the problem was fixed. (Nothingesle was changed, but the server name). What is the problem? Any experince? Thanks in advance... -- Regards, -- Ali Azarkar.
Your experience is correct. Informix will accept the dash (-) in the hostname field of the sqlhosts file, assuming that is the real hostname, but the DBSERVERNAME and DBSERVERALIASES, and the equivalent field in sqlhosts, cannot contain a dash. Either drop it or map it to an underscore which is legal. Had to deal with this one myself this week. Art S.
