Finally I've found someone else that has this problem!!! I've posted this problem twice in the last 2 months and haven't had any response back. Informix Tech Support has been working on my system for the last eight weeks trying to find a reason why this happens. To date, they have not. I'm running 5.02.UC6 on an SCO Unix system. I've found that this problem exists under both 5.02.UC2 and 5.02.UC6. (Incidently, 5.02.UC2 has other nasty bugs, and was no longer being shipped I thought) After much troubleshooting on my own I've come to the conclusion that the I-net sqlexec process must have a problem keeping its connections straight, because I've determined that you will not get the -408 error when you are the only user. As soon as another user gets on, your chances increase. The more users and the higher the traffic, the more likely you will get a -408 error. I will be forwarding your post to my tech support person at Informix so that he will be aware that the problem has been found elsewhere and on a slightly different operating system platform. Incidently, we are getting around the problem for now by using an old copy of an Online engine and I-Star on the front end. We put up with the errors for about 6 weeks and then gave up waiting for a fix. If anyone else has experienced these problems (or is running these versions and not experiencing problems) please send me e-mail.
