As Tom Hogarty suggests in his earlier post, I wouldn't run "update statistics" against the supplier's advice - if I did that, I'd have my self to blame for the system grinding to a halt, as it undoubtedly would. But it helps to know that the general opinion of those who have replied is that the Informix optimiser is pretty good at its job. -- Peter Wotherspoon
