Development Tools For Informix V - Online

Hi: I'm on a team trying to develop a client-server application. Our user's organization has an hierarchy where some users have direct access to the database (approvers). Some user's have a level of access where changes they make aren't applied directly to the database (proposers). Rather, their changes must be approved by the higher level in the heirarchy: the approvers. If approved, the proposer's changes get applied to the DB. If not they are discarded. This scheme was initially implemented with B-Tree/ISAM/C code. We're doing a complete rewrite/redesign with Informix V - Online and (possibly) Powerbuilder. Because of cost, we may have to give them purely character based access to the Informix DB. Is there a way of handling this with Informix? -- Robert A.
