I think that Informix defines a user as a single connection to the database rather than a single user logging in loads of times. IF Informix support log in to your machine and identify more users than licensed, they will inform their licensing people who will call your organisation and ask that you upgrade your user licenses ( usually, this can also be negotiated ).
