Hi, I am working on TeraData to Informix XPS migration project. It is real hot issue of migration of DDL's from TeraData to Informix. Does any one out there know any tool or any utility, which can be used to simply convert TeraData DDL to Informix DDL.? It is really very urgent and important for me, being a solo working on it .......... Any help would be appreciated... Thanks a million.. GM Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. You have a task at hand. At what point are you now? How many table do you
have to convert? Are you moving the views, if you have any. Are you going
to use fastexport to unload the data? Is NCR or INFORMIX helping you with
this port? What version of the Teradata are you "leaving"....
Some simple stuff to help you out, if you don't HAVE ANYTHING to work with.
bteq <<!
.logon < logon information>, <password>
database dbc;.export file=/tmp/tables.txt
select tablename from tables where databasename = '<the database that youare converting>'
.quit
!
This sould get you a list of all tables and views in this database. You may
need to modify the table list to
get rid of 2 lines of header information.
From the command line, or you can gen a script. ( I like the korn shell )
for X in $( < /tmp/tables.txt )
do
bteq <<!
.logon < logon information>, <password>
database <database name>;
.export file=${X}.sql
show table ${X};
.quit
!
done
This should get you the DDL's you would need for each of the tables that you
want to move to XPS.
Modify them to favor XPS DDL ( what coserver, how do you want to distribute
the data, or whatnot. ) This is the easiest way to get the information that
you would need.
Moving the data is a different beast all together. I'm glad there Informix
has a High Performance Loader, this will help a whole lot.
Let me know your progress and if this helped any,

How many DDL must you convert. The first thing I would do is loop through
the dbc database
