Moreover, it also includes its own script language that can be used to build in-house application. Has anyone use WingZ? What do you think about this package? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have begun using Wingz on both DOS and HP-UX OS. I am personally involved with the HP-UX side for the development of applications for in-house use. I like the capabilities and the ease of use. Wingz is particularily useful for generating business graphics from numbers. I also think that it would be useful for scientific applications as well since there are many 3D wireframe and surface graphing tools. The major drawback for us is that Wingz currently only supports Postscript printers. All our laserjets are PCL so I must use a postscript to PCL conversion program. One of the major contributions of Wingz for us is its capability to read and write to Informix databases. Wingz also reads Lotus format files; although, I have not tried to read a 123 file. Wingz can also be programmed in their Hyperscript language. This is a high level macro like language that gives you the ability to customize Wingz applications. On the DOS side, you get the same capabilities as the HP-UX. You can access Informix DB data and Lotus files. I compared Lotus 123 under MSDOS Windows 3.0 to Wingz in the same environment and found that Wingz executes faster and I found it more intuitive, but I am NOT a Lotus 123 user. I also heard that Omnivar's price for Wingz is lower than that of Lotus 123 on a PC. Before I used Wingz, I obtained a demo on HP-UX off the network. This demo is very impressive. It shows off the diverse graphing capabilities and many of the more advanced features.
