Hi,
I do a full ASCII backup every night, wheen almost no change of data, but I also do a level 0 backup at midnight, a
level 1 at 11AM and a level 2 at 4PM and check my tapes every day.
I use the ontape for recovery in case of disk or server failure (2 in the last 10 years), but I also use the ASCII
unloads to recover a single table o part of a table (4-6 a year) in case of a human (programmer) error.
May be in IDS 9.5/10 when I can do a single table restore I'll stop doing ASCII backups.
