If any of your customers call into IBM support, are they willing to accept: "Sorry we cannot accept this PMR, IDS/XPS/DB2 is slow because your design sucks. You are stressing the system in a way it was not designed" That poor L1 support guy can try with a carrot IFF he/she spends enough time with the customer to recognise the design flaw, but that's it ;-) While you may be able to afford to pick customers who listen, a vendor has no such liberty.
