These functions are Oracle specific functions and as such are NOT part of ANY Informix release. Having said that there is a 7.3x syntax to support the NVL & DECODE features of Oracle, I do not know if it is in 9.14, it will be in the IDS.2000/Foundation.2000 release (9.20) since it is based on the 7.31 source tree, but the ESQL 7.24 would only support it in PREPARED statements. The other functions you could certainly develop yourself as UDFs since you have UDO 9.14. BTW The to_char/to_date functionality is RARELY needed in Informix since the engine AUTOMATICALLY converts between a columns type and the type of any host variable you are fetching it into, such as char. Hi Why does the nvl,decode,to_date,to_char functions I am not familiar with informix .
