Yes, preimages of modified pages are written to temp tables, one per dbspace, in tempdbspaces if available, or to the rootdbs if not, and you apparently do not have enough temp space to complete the archive. In all current versions these temp tables are not cleared out until the entire archive is completed so you may need lots of temp space to hot archive a large, active, server. Art S. Kagel
