Re: What to get Informix 9 or 10?

Gary, Back to your question, I had to make the same decision last winter, and opted for 9.4.FC5 on our Solaris 8 boxes. It was, and is, a very stable platform. And I see that 9.40.FC7 is out now. My thought is that by the time FC5, FC6, or FC7 roll out, most of the major bugs should have been caught. Now that 10.0 is getting to FC4, it may be stable enough for you. But I tend to err on the side of caution. Unless you must have the new features in 10, I would stick with 9.4. And it should be supported for a good time in the future (flames invited if you have knowledge otherwise), so don't let that hold you back. As for Solaris 8, 9, or 10, I don't think informix should care much. Just my 2 cents, Nick
well Solaris 8 is too old really. Solaris 9 is stable but then Solaris 10 includes dtrace to help track down problems...i would go Solaris 10 with either latest IDS 9 or latest IDS 10. Hard to call if you have no really Informix knowledge.. IDS 9.40 latest might be best for you.
