Informix data files interchangable btw Unix & Win?

Currently i've a server running Informix on Unixware. I'm thinking of setting up a development server running on Windows server and Informix for Windows. Is it possible for the data files to be transfer from the Unix server to be used in the windows server? Are there any step by step documentation for this? Thanks!
Dear Michael, This trick is not supported at all. It works , though, for platforms that: 1) have the same Informix page size (2K for most platforms, 4K for AIX and Windows) 2) Have the same byte order scheme (big endian vs little endian) For example, this trick has been successfully been implemeted for migrations of an IDS instance on RELIANT to a SOLARIS machine. In any case, you need to take care , if your databases have been created with OS locales . There may be difficulties if the locales in the source system are not present in the target system. Again, this is far from being officially supported. If you can afford a downtime to export all data to a file system, create a new instance , with a new datbase of the same schema and then reload all data I'd recommend this approach over the hack. Hi,
What kind of Data Files ? (DB Chunks ?).
If DB Chunks, it's not possible.
Try DBEXPORT and FTP to Windows and DBIMPORT
or (table level)
Unload to file
Load from file
or (replicate transactions)
Use Replication (CDR)
hmm... so am i right to say that the only way is thru a dbexport from the unix
system and dbimport into my windows system?
Yes. To move Informix Dynamic Server from one operating system to
another, you must run DBExport and DBImport.
