Well, I can make a couple of comments. The "license database" appears to be a screwed up as ever. While the shape of the arrangement between RTI->Ingres->ASK/Ingres->CA/Ingres is decidely peculiar, getting a handle on what is or is not included in our license is q regular pain in the posterior. No real progress on that front. Tech support, however, has improved tremendouly! CMU has largely abandoned tech support because we just couldn't get the help we needed. (By way of back ground, we've been using Ingres since version 3.0. We probably know as much about the product and its internals as most of the people in tech support. When we call for support, we've already tried the canned answers and work arounds - we may actually have invented them.) My experiences over the last six months, however, indicate that tech support has been straightened up wonderfully. I got a rep on the line who listened when I told him/her (several incidents) that we'd already tried solutions x, y and z. He/she dug out a solution that DID work, and did it in a timely manner. The one that really surprised me was the followup! About a week after we'd marked the problem cleared, I got a call from CA/Ingres tech support. It was the rep that I'd worked through the problem with, checking back to make sure that the solution had worked and that we were back on track. Bruce
