Re: Discussion of MS products
Posted in 1997
This is drifting off-topic a bit (so I'll keep it short), but in light of the recent talk of the fondness for MS products, I thought there may be some interest in this: In his current column (April 21, 1997) in PC Magazine, former MacUser columnist John Dvorak writes about a subject we don't hear much about from the Microsoft-loving press. Mr. Dvorak laments at how bloated and slow the operating system is on his 200MHz Pentium PC. He he talks about the over-clogged set of files and system software on his machine, including "DLLs the OS can't sort out", and the Registry, with "entries long since forgotten and impossible to remove". He finally asserts that "Microsoft has created an operating system that encourages sloppy practices and continuously degraded performance." Article is at: <http://www.pcmag.com/insites/dvorak/jd.htm>
