It's a small point, but some people might feel it's> important.> Ah but I only use this as an example. For many things, Java does things well enough. And the point wasn't about the java language. It was the fact that you have a product originally designed for a single purpose, and now they want to mutate the purpose to be a more generalized RDBMS. As the code base expands, it makes its original purpose more difficult to achieve. So if you could create a method of allowing components be optional and added on demand (plug in fashion, or during the build process), you can meet the needs of both the embedded and the extended camp. With repsect to IDS, you do have some extensibility in the datablades, but its not as formalized as it could be. The other extensibility would be to enhance the clustering capabilities. And here there's more to it than just a simple cluster. But we wouldn't want to step on DB2's DW as the direction mantra. > -- > Bye now,> Obnoxio> > http://obotheclown.blogspot.com/> > > _______________________________________________> Informix-list mailing list> Informix-list@iiug.org> http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list _________________________________________________________________ Talk to your Yahoo!
