Migration from 5.01 to 7.2

We currently are running Informix 5.01.UD1 on a Bull DPX380 using BOS 68k 2.x operating system which is simply a sys V rel 4. We are migrating to a Sun E3000 and E4000 utilizing Informix 7.2 engine and 6.x tools. We would welcome any input regarding experiences, knowledge, etc. regarding this migration effort. One particular "burning" question we have is will our current applications utilizing 4.x tools migrate "transparently" to 7.2 engine utilizing 6.x tools? We have been lead to believe they will.
