REQ : how do I add space to a 5.0 database?
Posted in 1997
Hi
We are using a network monitoring system (Strataview), which uses an
Informix database as repository (Apparently it is a 5.0, on a Sun machine).
We have some space problems with the database, and we don't want
to be purging tables monthly, so the other solution is to add more space to
the database.
But none of us here have ever used Informix, we use Oracle. What must I do
to add
more space?
As I understand, I must add a new "chunk" the the root dbspace, but I don't
know how
to do it.
Here is some information about the current space :
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
ROOTNAME rootdbs # Root dbspace name
ROOTPATH /dev/rsd1h # Path for device containing root dbspace
ROOTOFFSET 0 # Offset of root dbspace into device
(Kbytes)
ROOTSIZE 900000 # Size of root dbspace (Kbytes)
Here is some information from the dbaccess application :
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------
CHUNKS FOR rootdbs
Chunk Chunk Pages Pages Full Pathname of Chunk
Status
Id Offset In Chunk Used
1 0 450000 450000 /dev/rsd1h
PO-
Dbspace has total of 450000 pages, 0 of which are free
Any help will be very welcome. Thanks in advance
