Hi All, I should write a licence report for an Informix database server which is installed on HPUX, Where can I find out the details of existing licences? Licence Type/Part Number/... Cheers Ali
HI Ali, Depending on which version you are using, here is what you can find for the products that are installed on your server. In the old versions: 7, 9 for example, there is a file called *.snfile* in $INFORMIXDIR/etc that contains the list of the products installed in the order of installation. In the latest versions, since there no serial number needed during installation, this file is not there any longer. However, the are a bunch of files that end with *cr* (current release) that contain the info on all of the products and components installed on your server: here is an example of file present after an installation: -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 114 Sep 30 2010 SQLI-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 113 Sep 30 2010 OSLIB-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 114 Sep 30 2010 GENLIB-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 118 Sep 30 2010 ESQL-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 114 Sep 30 2010 DMI-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 69 Sep 30 2010 ClientSDK-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 114 Sep 30 2010 ASF-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 117 Sep 30 2010 CLI-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 109 Oct 1 2010 MSG-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 104 Oct 1 2010 GLS-cr -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 109 Oct 1 2010 IIF-cr You will not find the licence type or part number. The part number is only there when you order the product. As far as the licence type is concerned, do you mean "Growth", or "Ultimate" or "Enterprise" or "Workgroup" or "developer". If that is the case, the latest versions of the engine will have for example : IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC1DE for the Developer edition or IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC1GE for the Growth edition I hope that this helps. Thanks Khalid for your valuable comments. This case is 11.50.FC5. Actually I need to know 1 - which licence type is currently there (User base or core base)? 2 - Which type of product is already installed(Growth or Ultimate)? Regards Ali
Hi, There is no way of knowing whether a product installed is user based or core based (PVU); it is the same product. This is a contractual issue between you an IBM. Check your licences in your agreement with IBM or ask your sales rep. As far as Growth versus Ultimate, as I said earlier the latest versions including some of the 11.50 version will show 11.50.FCxGE for example for the growth edition and nothing (meaning 11.50.FCx without the GE as the suffix) for the Ultimate version. Again check with your IBM sales rep or your IBM BP. I hope that this helps.
