Obnoxio The Clown posted an IBM Smarter Planet link about smart data. Ian Goddard mocked its claim that Stockholm's road charging cut traffic 20% and emissions 12%, and Serge Rielau joked about park and ride for trucks. Ian replied that such schemes can swap lorries for vans and price out small cars. Off-topic banter; no Informix content.

So the remaining traffic had emissions 10% higher per vehicle than the
traffic removed. Smart!

Are you proposing park and ride for delivery trucks?

Oddly enough that's the sort of thing that can happen with schemes like
these. We don't want big trucks driving through the city centre so
let's have lots of white vans instead.
Another thing that happens is that owners of Chelsea tractors can still
afford to pay the charges so they drive round town but the owners of
smaller cars can't afford to drive.
