VPN

Hello list, for the moment our federation use two databases (MS Access and IDS7.30) on two locations. One use access, the other Informix. The date of these should be syncron. To reduce maintanance costs for a manual sycronisation (I really hate this task!) I'm searching for other solutions. Can I use the access-frontend to connect a database over VPN on my network? For the moment the database server (HP-UX 10.20 with IDS 7.30 is in our LAN. Must the machine for this in the DMZ?
