ESQL 7.1 client versus 5.0 Server:Problem...Help

I am currently running a ESQL 7.1 application on SUN SPARC 5 with Solaris 2.4 which is the client. and to establish a link and communicate with a server which is on DEC 5400/5900 running on ULTRIX 4.3. I am having Problems.with this connectivity..All the configurations on the client as well as on the server side seem to be ok..
