"I had once a case wher the logs filled up and rollback was not able to complete. " An d you could have avoid a costly restore + users wondering what state the database was in if the parameters we lower. Also large transactions a) take a long time to rollback if the instance/machine crashes and "Fast" Recovery is required. b) take a lot of locks. I have seen people run for 6 months without a problem but who wants to a) do a restore b) what users wonder if their work was lost or not when it can be avoided? Also there is a 'bug' in the DYNAMIC_LOGS feature. If the next logical log contains the last checkpoint record then the dynmic logs feature does NOT get activated and the instance is f**ked. Recently had to rebuild a 10.00.FC4 instance because of this!! Who wants to have more users think Informix is crap when they have to restore?
