This sort of question is unanswerable, in general, because you've not given us enough information to work with. For starters, we don't know anything about which Informix software you are using, let alone which version of that software, nor which machine, o/s and version of o/s. It seems fairly obvious to me that you have some program running which runs into the 'cannot update system catalog' error; it probably also gets some information about the secondary (ISAM) error, which is critical in this case. Chances are the ISAM error says 'out of locks' or some variant on that theme. What is your program doing at the point when it runs into the problem? What other programs are running at the same time, and which one of them is doing something which locks the system catalog. Etc.
