Use of New Era

I am looking into upgrading our accounting system, currently implemented entirely in i4GL. I am not looking to substantially rewrite the application as much as moving to a GUI and client server architecture. Changes in the current function of the accounting system will likely be evolutionary. So the question is: Is New Era the right way to go? I know this question cannot be answered directly, but I would appreciate any sense of how widely used New Era is and how frequently it is used as the upgrade path from i4GL.
