informix user

Hi,
I have three questions:
1. How it is possible to kill/logout (using onmode -z or something else)
users from Informix Server ?
2. In general how it is possible to execute informix commands inside from a
procedure ?
3. Informix user (OS level user) if it is been locked (on OS Level) does it
causes any problem on the further normal operation of the IDS (because
informix user owns the processes that starts the IDS) ?
Thanks in advance

Version and platform may assist the answer.
1. Best to get the users to terminate or close their sessions in
the application normally. Otherwise onmode -z, or depending upon the
application, kill -15 . Warning ..both of these could being the engine
down (not sure whether this is still true).
2. See SPL SYSTEM. You need to set the environment inside what
you run.
3. I would not expect informix to run if the user is locked. Note
- completely untested answer. How would you start informix if the user
is locked?

Yes.

Unlikely - might be more serious if you use shared memory connections.

Yes.

Well, I don't know what the password is for user informix on my
machine - and I don't need to. Of course, using root is cheating -
but effective. I could also run it as a member of the DBSA group
(which is controlled by the group that owns $INFORMIXDIR/etc).
It depends on how the o/s controls a locked user. Most likely, it
just prevents that user from logging in, so if you find a way to run
the programs without logging in as informix, you'll be fine.
