In 1994, I gave up on informix because the installed systems where unpredictable. Terminals locking up. Reports not running on certain dates. Reports that ran perfectly on older informix version didn't work anymore on newer versions. TSS space (temporary string storage) area was too small and poorly managed - which caused errors when manipulating string data. I require only a handful of things in a language. Chief among these is trustworthyness, and consistency. So, why do I watch this ng? because I keep hoping that informix will become worthy again. I have stacks of code for a manufacturing system that I can't sell because I don't trust the language! I would _LOVE_ to trust informix again. (I'm not holding my breath) dave
