Bug 83048
Posted in 1998
If anybody interested......
Last weekend we have upgraded 2 of our 9 production server from 7.23UC5 to
7.23UC11X1 mainly because some of the bug fixes that we needed. Since then
we had experienced huge performance degradation.
After contacting Informix we came to know that they have known about this,
another site experienced the same problem. Performance degradation was so
bad that the system would finally hang. We sent the onstat -a and onstat -g
all output to Informix for while the system is hung to Informix.
Guess what they have come up with? We are hitting bug 83048 which was fixed
in 7.23UC9. Somehow the fix did not make it to 7.23UC11. They sent us a
patch which includes a new oninit and a sym.out file.
I looked at the bug database, the description of the bug is as follows:
RETRIEVE_CACHE() CAN UNLOCK LOCKTABLE MUTEXES TOO MANY TIME
Does anybody know more about this bug?
I am told that this bug could exist in the following versions - not sure
how correct this information is:
7.14UD2
7.24UC1
7.23UC5 combined with other bug may cause assert failure which we were
getting before. Fixed in 7.23UC9 (I know for sure it did not make it to
7.23UC11X1)
7.24UC3 may have been fixed in 7.24UC4
7.30UC1P1
Hope this info is helpful for the group....
