Not only that - if you put some stress on it you will notice that it will leak connections and leave transactions hanging on the server side too. At one point I even had a lock that stayed for several days after the client had rolled back the transaction and disconnected. We had to shut down Informix to get rid of it. Also, don't even dream about using the Informix OLEDB or ODBC drivers together with COM+ transactions. COM+ (MTS) transactions are not supported by most versions and those who do are unstable. We tried and quickly abandoned both the OLEDB and ODBC drivers for Informix. (Both the IBM and a third party version). They are OK for a few users running a report query or two, but not stable enough to build apps on.
