I used to use onarchive (OnLine v7.13, Solaris 2.4) to disk, but when the
archives got too big I tried to switch to tape. I got errors on restore. I
called UK Tech Support (problem number 141054 refers), whose response was,
basically, "Tough". I received the following:
"Official support for DLT devices is through On-Bar, through which Informix
relies on the SMVs to test their solutions with the various DLT devices and in
which Informix provides an X/OPEN BSA API, On-Bar, for the SMVs to validate
their solutions. Therefore any use of DLT devices with On-Archive and On-Tape
are at the customer's discretion."
So I ditched onarchive and switched back to ontape.
Maybe your combination of IDS/Solaris has no problems. But I'd do a test
restore just to be sure!
