It's a mix, you could see half a dozen dss style queries running which take
30minutes or longer each to complete, you could have 40 users doing oltp
data entry, you could have 5 other batch jobs processing data behind the
scenes, and then there are times on Saturday morning when this has the
system completely to itself. We are accustomed to seeing some degradation
of performance when the engine is actively working on a dozen or more
threads, but this statement of this app is having issues long before that
and even occurs when it is the only thing running.

This server gets rebooted once a week, including once since this surfaced
last week. As for configuration changes on the reboot previous to the
problem occuring, the DUMPDIR was changed away from /tmp to a file system
with more space, and the DBSTEMP was dropped recreated specifying the -t
option of onspaces. Our server administrator has told me that no changes
were made to the operating system.

This app is running locally on the database server. It is connecting via
tcp.

We've gotten an sqexplain.out from the app by bracketing the statement with
SET EXPLAIN ON and SET EXPLAIN OFF. The sqexplain.out looks the same as theone from dbaccess.

Thanks, let me know if you think of anything else.
