It allows you :to connect to databases, etc, hence its name. I know this applies to Unix; :the rules under Windows may be mildly different. It's the same - or I don't know of any differences. However there are also many other tools than ESQL/C on MS Windows that can directly use Informix Connect (like Delphi) without you having to have an ESQL/C program in sight. :Informix-CLI is Informix's version of ODBC (give or take the issues of :who actually wrote it, etc). : :I don't know which product you need for Delphi. If Delphi needs ODBC, then :you'd presumably need Informix-CLI. You might also need Informix Connect, :but I don't know. Delphi can connect via Informix Connect (using some "native" library delivered with Delphi) or use ODBC and therefore Informix CLI or better another ODBC driver. From postings here at c.d.i. it seems most are using Informix Connect (previously Informix Net). Whether that's due to a belief that this driver will give better performance ("native" driver you know :-) or there are some problems with using ODBC I don't know. In any case I would excpect the same or better performance with ODBC (most probably better if you use the right driver, perhaps worse if you use Informix CLI which is after all another layer on top of Informix Connect).
