Yes, having 4GL experience will help to a certain extend, at least you know how to write reports, have no problem retieving data, and massaging them. But of course, on the other hand, it will hinder becuase the interaction portion is totally different, and require some re-learning. > >2) Does each memeber of the development team need to have strong C++ >skills? No, I don't find C++ knowledge being required at all. But having them just might prove useful with the classes, objects stuff. No comment here. > >3) Does each member of the team need to have strong OOD and OOP skills? Not necessary. I started out with no knowledge of those, and still is. Unless I' the odd one out, I don't feel a compelling need to know those things. On the other hand, for long term onvestment, it probably pays to have such skills, and start using them in the design of classes. To work harder only and design good reusable classes now will certainly prove usefull in the future (provided its well documented, that is. look forward tothe repository) > >4) With respect to previous questions, could a New Era development team be >made up of a mix of 4GL programmers and C++ programmers, with the C++ >programmers contributing the OOD and OOP skills. Sorry, but my field here. So, no comment. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Calvin Ng email: <calvinng@brel.com.sg> ------------------------------------------------------------------------- [DISCLAIMER] Read at your own risks.
