Strings and trailing spaces????

Hello, I've noticed that all of my strings have trailing spaces added. Is this part of Informix or the JDBC driver? Also, is there anyway to tell the DB not to add them. I hate to trim every string. Slows things down. Regards, Dave Brown

You could change char to varchar to avoid them. In addition it saves space if string length varies. Other way is to put a trim() around the strings in the select (which may not be possible for you?)
