Hello All I received an email from one of our developers this morning describing an issue with ISQL. We recently upgraded from 9.21.FC4 to 9.40.FC6. We are running under HP-UX 11.0. The developers, who are now primarily support personnel due to outsourcing, have always used ISQL extensively. In particular, they use forms extensively. It has been some time since I've used ISQL and the developer's email to me describes the problem very well: -------------------------------------------------------- We are seeing some real odd things with the ISQL utility under Informix 9.40. We are no longer able to type in the name of an SQL script or FORM or REPORT when trying to select one to run. We instead now have to scroll through them all and highlight the one we want and press enter. This is only a problem because we have 1000's of SQL scripts and forms and most of the team has them all memorized by now. So scrolling though 1000's of selections screen by screen takes some time. Here is an example. I go into ISQL and do a form run. RUN FORM >> Choose a form with Arrow Keys, or enter a name, then press Return. --------------------- uds ---------------------- Press CTRL-W for Help -------- acl hlp lt_choice lu_demp lu_dsord lu_mclsv app jc lt_edt_cbl lu_demtp lu_dsotp lu_mcrew avsd ld_com lt_edtclo lu_deqp lu_dsp_cls lu_mcstp bd ld_input lt_soclo lu_dexp lu_dstcd lu_mdue ca ld_pay lt_soclo2 lu_dfrgp lu_dstgp lu_memp de ld_stat lt_uticlo lu_dgrid lu_dsttp lu_memtp dist lp_no_page lt_zcmpl lu_disp lu_dtatp lu_meqp doc lp_page lth lu_dlab lu_dtour lu_mexp em ls_cab_grp lu_cevent lu_dmscd lu_dver lu_mgrid emdy ls_frame lu_cstat lu_dost lu_dvlcl lu_mlab er ls_inp_rmk lu_dacc lu_dpay lu_dwgt lu_mmscd fi ls_miss lu_date lu_dpri lu_dwktp lu_mpay gdd ls_nt_rmks lu_dclsv lu_dproc lu_dwrcl lu_mptp gp ls_ntstupd lu_dcntp lu_dptp lu_lower lu_mskll gr ls_ntupdt lu_dcrew lu_drot lu_macc lu_msnlc grsg ls_rtstupd lu_dcstp lu_dskll lu_mald lu_msord hhb ls_rtupdt lu_ddbnm lu_dsnlc lu_mapt ... acl I then type in the name of the form that I want to run which is tsk and press enter to run it and get the following error. FORM: Run Modify Generate New Compile Drop Exit Use a form to enter data or query a database. --------------------- uds ---------------------- Press CTRL-W for Help -------- No screen forms are available. Use the Generate or New option to create one.=20 acl But if I scroll down to that form and press enter, it works.=20 But... If I scroll down to that form and then also type in the name of that form and press enter, it still errors out. So, it seems like the ISQL program does not like anything actually typed into the selection screens anymore. Only scrolling to the item and pressing enter. Can you help with this. While not crippling, it is quite bothersome. -------------------------------------------------------- Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Thanks Rob Schmitz
Yep ! It happen, we Use HP-UX B.11.11 and IDS 9.40.FC4 and ISQL 7.32.FC2 ... And had exactly the same behavior ... _Annoying at best_ but I personally use Winsql when need to browse throug tables. To me ISQL is terrible outdated. J. -----Original Message----- From: "Schmitz, Ro...." <Rob.B.Schmitz@mail.sprint.com> Can you help with this. Jean & Co.: I am testing a similar system right now (IDS 9.40.FC6, I-SQL 7.32.FC2, HP-UX 11.11) and decided to check for that behavior, and I'll be darned if you guys aren't right. It also shows up in the FORM-Run and REPORT-Run portions of the application. Has anyone submitted this as a bug? --EEM > -----Original Message----- > From: Jean Sagi [mailto:jeansagi@myrealbox.com] > Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2005 2:51 PM > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Re: ISQL and IDS 9.40 [5431] > > Yep ! > > It happen, we Use HP-UX B.11.11 and IDS 9.40.FC4 and ISQL 7.32.FC2 > > .. I called tech support. This issue is fixed in version 7.32.FC3, which is supposed to be available. I only saw the Solaris, AIX and Linux versions on the PPA website, however. --EEM > -----Original Message----- > From: Everett Mills > Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2005 5:09 PM > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: RE: ISQL and IDS 9.40 [5432] > > Jean & Co.: > I am testing a similar system right now (IDS 9.40.FC6, I-SQL > 7.32.FC2, HP-UX 11.11) and decided to check for that behavior, and I'll > be darned if you guys aren't right.
