Group: Platforms and Systems Software Division Department: Database Performance Location: PSSD-Columbia Position Title: Database Engineering Alliance Manager Job Class Number: 614204/614205 Position Type (Circle One): Full-time Requisition Type (Circle one): New Human Resources Contact: Steve Deem Human Resources Contact Phone Number: (803) 939 - 6017 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description (Assignments): The Database Engineering Alliance Manager within the Server Software Center of Excellence is responsible for managing the engineering relationships between AT&T Columbia and AT&T's strategic database partners. Principal aspects of these relationships include acting as the primary interface to the vendor for performance, porting, and technology integration activities, acting as the primary interface for AT&T Columbia on-site porting and performance engineers at the vendor location, disseminating engineering and technology information between organizations, and managing hardware and software investments at the vendor site that is provided to the vendor for porting and performance engineering activities. Summary of responsibilities is as follows: Specific areas for which the Alliance Manager is responsible for include database time to market relative to AT&T GIS competitiors, vendor technical issue resolution and responsiveness to the database vendors, ensuring the database partner is continually updated with the latest software and hardware, developing, implementing and maintaining processes to enable joint engineering activities between AT&T Columbia and the database partners, and effectively leveraging all necessary resources to achieve goals and overcome readblocks. The individual should be a self-starter who has the ability to base decisions on both focused and high level knowledge of the database industry and it's impact on AT&T GIS, the database partner, and our customers. Major Tasks: ' Coordination of project plans with Strategic Partners ' Coordination of project plans with other AT&T sites ' Management of hardware/software allocation to Strategic Partners ' Communication of technical roadmap of AT&T PSSD-Columbia to Strategic Partners ' Resolution of technical issues encountered by Strategic Partners Job Requirements: ' BS in a discipline related to product technology: electrical, mechanical, computer engineering of computer science. ' At least 2 years of experience in managing relationship with strategic partners.
