Stated in the Informix 4gl Reference manual under the DECLARE statement definition: Notes .... ... 21. The DECLARE statement for a cursor MUST physically appear before any statement that specifies the cursor. The cursor-name has meaning from the point at which you declare it, to the end of the same source file. It is not a global identifier that can be referenced in a seperate source file.
