I-STAR Performance Tuning

Hi, What I would like to find out is what methods there are to tune the performance of I-STAR. My problem is that I-STAR seems to be only using about 20% of the available bandwidth on any one request. If I issue two requests at the same time about 40% of the bandwidth is used. If the connection between the machines has a high capacity this would not be a major problem, but in my case I have two machines separated by a 158Kbit line and the wasted bandwidth is badly needed. The configuration I have is this Machine 1 Machine 2 Sun 690MP SunOS 4.1.3 SPARCStation 10 SunOS 4.1.3 INFORMIX-SQL 4.10.UE1 INFORMIX-SQL 4.10.UE1 INFORMIX-ONLINE 4.10.UG1 INFORMIX-ONLINE 4.10.UG1 INFORMIX-STAR 4.10.UG1 INFORMIX-STAR 4.10.UG1 Connected as such ------------- ------------- | | | | | Machine 1 | | Machine 2 | | | | | ------------- ---------- ---------- ------------- | | | /\\ | | | |================| Bridge |------\\ / \\------| Bridge |================| | | \\/ | | ---------- ---------- Ethernet 158Kbit Line Ethernet The obvious solution is to increase the speed of the line, but currently this is not an option. So does anyone out there know of any ways to tune I-STAR to increase its performance.
