Re: employment agencies
Posted in 2009
Off-topic noise rather than a technical thread. It starts with a ranting post attacking employment agencies, and a reply mocking the poster's spelling of "independant". One participant said he could find no spelling error, and others pointed out the misspelling of "independent". He then explained why his check failed: he had pasted the text into Word 2007, whose AutoCorrect silently fixed the word before the spell check ran. Another poster cited this as a reason he moved to OpenOffice. No Informix content or technical resolution.

I am unable to detect a spelling error in Dan's posting. Since you posted a comment about using a spell checker, could you please indicate where the spelling errors occurred? Thank you. Larry Hazel

I cut and pasted the entire message into Office Word 2007 so that I could use Word's spell checker. It automatically corrected the spelling for me, so when I ran spell checker, it found nothing. I just did it twice with only independant. I cut it and pasted it twice into Word and both times, it automatically corrected it without a red underline or anything. I don't know whether I like that activity or not. Thanks, Larry Hazel
