Re: Problems with ILogin
Posted in 1998
Greetings! Alejandro: Have you installed this product as user: Administrator, if not please re-install the product as user: Administrator and not as any other user with admin privileges. Work with ILogin only at this time to sort out this issue, do not confuse yourself by editing the setnet32 unless you have been able to connect using ILogin...;o) -951 __________________________________________________________ User username is not known on the database server. The database server that you tried to access does not accept either your user ID, the login name that is specified for the desired server host in your ~/.netrc file, or the user name that is specified in the USER clause of a CONNECT statement. If you are explicitly specifying your user name in the ~/.netrc file or in a CONNECT statement, check that the name is correct. If you do not have a valid user ID on the server machine, see your system administrator. This message appears with Version 6.0 and later. -951 User is not known on remote host. This statement refers to a database on another computer system, but the other system does not accept your account name. You must have a valid login identity on any computer system you access. See your network administrator about getting a login ID. This message appears prior to Version 6.0. The error is pretty straight forward, you have to sort it out at the O/S level. Set up a .netrc file in the home directory and give it a try. It should work fine...;o) Finally inorder to edit the setnet32 and the registry thereof, you will need to give the users appropriate permissions, please have these users either in the admin ot the Informix admin group and then try. Hope that helps. --Anil Alejandro Alberola Arias wrote: > Hello, > > I am trying to connect to an IDS 7.3 for NT from a > Windows NT4 Workstation client machine. > > Only the Administrator user can connect with ILogin. > Other users cannot connect and receive the -951 > error from the server. > > When I set the user Administrator and its password > with setnet32 the conection works all right, but > when I set a different user with setnet32 it doesn't > work. > > The protocolname and servicename are all right > because the connection with Administrator user > works all right. > > Any ideas ?
