Hi Folks. I'm a System Ingeneer for a software editor and i've to test the SE 5.0/i4GL 4.x on SCO 5.05. do you know the problem for the Y2K compliant ? "SE works with system ressource. So, if SCO is Y2K compliant, SE 5.0 will be Y2K Compliant", such as Informix Response. Thanks for your answers or experience on it. Christophe

Therefore, your SE is definitely not compliant and your I4GL is probably not compliant. However, the non-compliance is limited. Specifically, the documented behaviour for converting 2-digit year values is to add 1900; that does not change simply because the current year is 2000 or later. As long as you realize this, and always display all 4 digits for the year, and your users are trained to enter 4-digits for the year, the software will work quite happily for the foreseeable future (which runs out before January 2038). -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
Hello, we're using Informix SE 5.0 with 4GL. So I asked Informix Munich and they had answered that Informix 5 and 4GL will not bring problems with the Y2K. If you hear, that it is wrong, please tell it to me. The standard advice is that 5.10 is the earliest version of OnLine and SE which is Y2K-compliant. Earlier versions will continue to behave as they are documented to behave, and will add 1900 to any date entered with (1 or) 2 digits for the year. Similarly, 4.20 I4GL is the earliest version of I4GL which is Y2K-compliant -- earlier versions have the same behaviour as the earlier versions of OnLine or SE. > Christophe DECHAUNE schrieb: > >I'm a System Ingeneer for a software editor and i've to test the > >SE 5.0/i4GL 4.x on SCO 5.05. > >do you know the problem for the Y2K compliant ? > > > >"SE works with system ressource.
