Now compare it with DB2 promotion. I can't answer that - I don't go looking for things like that. But I agree, there's been no fullpaged adverts for IDS. Please see other posting for my fuzzy comments on that subject. All I'm doing is passing on info. > Interesting meeting like yours means jachshit to Informix customers. > It has no value. Au contrare. I think it does have value. It proves that IDS is undergoing massive development, and that's not something that will happen to a product that is being killed off. It proves that all the great parts of IDS will be added to DB/2 so that it becomes a better engine. It proves that the good parts of DB/2 will be added to IDS. No way anyone would fund this work if they wanted to kill off IDS. It proves that 4GL users will soon have yet another choice which will allow them to offer contemporary systems that can compete with Java offerings. You say you're selling WebSphere? Wow! It's got JAVA, XML, JDBC and all the fashional acronyms! Please come right in and hard-sell to me! 4GL will be post-moderne, not passe' Sadly not everyone will be offered a chance for a meeting like this. It would be impractical. I've passed on everything we heard and discussed, so now you can consider yourself part of the meeting. Sorry if we didn't ask any questions that you would want to ask. I never go to the roadshows, but if there are any in the offing in the next few months, get your arse out there and start asking the difficult questions.
