Re: [Q] Please, Help Me!

Based on the country this came from, I am a bit cautious in what I say. (As to the nature of the direct topic.) But since English is not his first language, I interpret his request to mean, "What is meant by a data driven application?" So I am attempting to answer that. A data driven application, is any application which uses a database to control the event flow or available information. A simple example of this is a menu or list button in an application. The elements of the list are taken directly from the database. to add an additional element, the data needs only to be entered in to the database. An example of this is creating a specific list based on a previous answer. Lets say we are dealing with a data conversion utility. A previous button dealt with chosing the native data type. (EBCIDIC, Informix, Native C, Sybase, etc ...) Based on this response, the button choices are then limited to those of the specific database. (Why show a Comp-3 PACKED data type for an Informix database?) All of this information is data driven, rather than hardcoded in to the code. This allows for a more extensible app. You can get more complex depending on the application. If you are writing a knowlege based application, your paths are predicated by the data. You need to determine the next event by checking the data from several tables and some calculations. Of course you can go to an extreme and look in to neural nets, but there again you may not want a data driven system. (Analog Computer vs a multi purpose digital computer.) [Scratch that, it will only confuse you.] Your specific data driven application is based on these examples. HTH -The Management.
