Memory fault/Segmention fault executing a SELECT statement
Posted in 1994
Hi,
i've some serious problems with the following SELECT
SELECT a,b,c,d,e,f FROM t1, t2, t3
WHERE
joining conditions
INTO TEMP t_tmp WITH NO LOG
Fields a-f have a size of about 50 Bytes and according to the joining condition
the SELECT should retrieve about 1200000 rows (number of records in the largest
table t3). The rootdbs has about 450000 pages free.
What happens: After running about 3 hours the 4GL programs crashes with memory
fault or segmentation fault (three tries up to now) during the select (i put
some debugging displays before and after the select).
The online log shows nothing serious to the time when the core was dumped. I've
now started the select again and will log rootdbs free space with tbstat -d
every 5 minutes (hint from the Siemens hotline) to see if rootdbs will
overflow. Result tomorrow.
But even if this was the reason for the error, i think there should be a clean
error reporting.
Environment:
4GL V4.1A10
Online V5.0B00
on a Siemens RM400.
Greetings, Joerg
